When raising small amounts of money, sometimes you just need to get the word out and people will respond.
For example, my nephew is going on a mission trip to Tokyo. His friends and family love him, want to see him grow in Christ, and they want to see the gospel spread in unreached places. They are ready and willing to give.
Now, they just need the details. I've encouraged him to send emails, direct messages, and letters to all of his friends and family -- anyone he knows. In this message, he should include why people in Tokyo need to hear about the gospel, what he and his team will be doing to share the gospel, and how they can become involved through giving. This financial involvement includes either a response envelope when using direct mail, or a link to give when using direct messages and email.
Most importantly, I encouraged him to follow up with each individual by calling them. So many of the people who don't give after your first communication to them will give after the second. So this is really, really important. Making calls may sound overwhelming.
But I've got a secret weapon. It's called SlyDial.com. You can call people through Sly Dial and it goes straight to voicemail. So you can simply thank them for considering giving to your ministry and it makes for a quicker call. It's a pretty awesome tool when raising a small amount.
Be sure to thank someone after they give. It will allow you to come back to that donor in the future, if there is ever a need.
